Hi, my name is Kimberly Nicolle Voigt. Along with my mother Denise I would like to introduce you to Golden Design Studio.
The studio officially started in 2012 but we started many years before as my mom was an active seamstress and quilt-maker working in a bridal shop and at home making quilts for a hobby. She also liked art and would help me draw my fashion barbie clothes and later started buying me books to help teach me how to draw animals and people. Being born into a family that loved camping and the Adirondacks has influenced me greatly. My mom made a quilt several years ago that was Adirondack themed and entered it into the county fair where it won the best in its class. We |
thought we could possibly sell quilts in the Adirondacks but they turned out to be too labor intense and we turned our efforts to Pillows that we design and make on our embroidery and laser machines, they are sold at retail stores in the Adirondacks. Along the way both my moms and my artwork has progressed. I took a great AP art class in school and both my mom and I are members in the East Aurora & West Seneca art societies. We are now excited to be selling our art at some area art shows. We also purchased all the necessary equipment to produce Giclee prints for ourselves and other artists. Giclee Prints are actually done on special inkjet printers that are large format (ours is 44" wide) and spray archival inks on high grade papers meant to last around 100 years or more.
A lot of our art is centered around nature, my dad and I have spent countless hours photographing nature while kayaking in the Adirondacks and at our backyard bird feeding stations. We get very excited to get shots of Bald Eagles, Herons catching their dinner, Baltimore Orioles in my backyard and Blue Birds at Knox Farm State Park. My mom and I then take some of those shots and turn them into art. We do several different mediums, my mom mostly does acrylic and I do a little of them all, right now I like working with watercolor.
Future plans include getting equipment that will allow us to apply our art to other items like shirts, mugs, and coasters.
